Famous Wetumpka, Alabama Actor:
James Anderson
also billed as Jim Anderson and Kyle James
Born at Wetumpka, Alabama on July 13th, 1921, Anderson was a prolific, popular actor during the 1950s and 1960s. His most famous role was as "Robert E. Lee Ewell" in the Academy Award winning movie, "To Kill A Mockingbird." And possibly his most famous line was when he asked Gregory Peck (Atticus Finch) "you ain't takin' their side ag'in our'n, are you?" He is best known for his "rough and tumble" movie and television Western roles. James Anderson's sister Mary (Bebe) Anderson was born at Birmingham, Alabama, and in only her third role, was also in an Academy Award winning Movie, Gone With The Wind. She was a popular actress from the late 1930s through the 1960s. Click Here to see her Bookshelf. Mary and James Anderson acted together in only one movie, Hunt the Man Down (see below).
